SHARAD CHANDRA SHAHA

From Olympism to the First SAF Games

Sharad Chandra Shaha was born on 23rd June, 1948 to Field Marshall General Surendra Bahadur Shah and Nayapal Rajya Laxmi Shaha at Kathmandu, Nepal. A husband to Mrs. Renu Shaha, he was a father to 2 daughters and a son.

An exceptional student who passed the School Leaving Certificate Exams at the age of 10 years, he completed Post Graduate Diploma in Community Department from Manchester University, United Kingdom.  From the Member Secretary of the National Sports Council  to Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, he held important positions in different institutions during his active years. His many decorations included Order of Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, SAARC Service Medal and Birendra Aishwarya Medal. He was the Head of Delegation for the Nepalese Contingent to the 23rd Olympics, Los Angeles, USA and the 24th Olympics, Seoul, Republic of Korea.
